Anastasiya Ador Returns with Her Hit Show from Camden Fringe 2024
After a sold-out run at Camden Fringe, Anastasiya Ador is back to captivate audiences once again with her powerful one-woman show. This deeply personal, yet wildly entertaining performance will be hitting multiple venues across London this fall. Catch her at the Old Red Lion Theatre on September 19th and 20th at 8pm, the West End Comedy Club on September 25th at 8:30pm, and the Etcetera Theatre on October 8th with two performances at 7pm and 9pm. With a running time of 45-50 minutes, this show is sure to be a rollercoaster of emotions and laughter for audience members aged 18 and up.
Anastasiya's show delves into the struggles of immigration, with a special focus on double immigration, as she shares her own journey of self-discovery through the quirks of English life—such as her love for Earl Grey tea—and the challenges of constantly seeking a new visa. From waitressing at private members' clubs to working as an interpreter for criminals, or being a Martini girl and even appearing in a Netflix show, Anastasiya has done it all. Through physical comedy, intimate chats, and cabaret, she explores what it means "to belong" in a world that often makes it difficult for immigrants to feel at home.
Written and performed by Anastasiya herself, the show promises to take the audience on a journey filled with laughter, heartfelt moments, and perhaps even some dance moves. While there may be no singing, Anastasiya's mix of physical comedy and warm, genuine storytelling ensures that this is a performance you won’t want to miss.
Audiences have been wowed by Anastasiya's presence on stage. One audience member said, “A must-see, laugh-yourself-to-tears play for every immigrant in London!” Another praised her ability to connect with the crowd, stating, “Anastasiya is electric! Her storytelling and ability to seamlessly interact with the audience is top-tier! A joy to witness!”
Others have echoed similar sentiments, highlighting her relatability and charm: “Incredibly relatable, charming, and hilarious!” and “Absurd, heartbreaking, and incredibly funny. Anastasiya speaks the truth about the immigrant experience with great humour and tenderness while dousing herself in Earl Grey!”
Anastasiya Ador’s journey is central to the narrative of her show. Born in Belarus, she moved through Ukraine before settling in India at 16, and then made another leap to the UK in 2021. "I’ve always felt like an outsider," she reflects. “Caught between cultures, languages, and worlds, I grappled with the sense of not quite fitting in anywhere.” This experience of being between worlds, constantly adapting, has shaped the heart of her show. However, as Anastasiya herself says, "I’m not taking myself seriously at all." Instead, she uses her background as a clown and dancer to explore themes of identity and belonging with humour, fluidity, and energy.
With her unique perspective and boundless energy, Anastasiya's show offers a fresh and funny take on immigration, identity, and self-discovery, making it a must-see for London theatre-goers this season.
